Biographical Details

Frederick was born in 1887. He was baptised at Holy Trinity and attended the Sunday School. After Launceston Technical School he was apprenticed as a cabinet maker with Coogans. He enlisted in the 6th Field Artillery in August 1915 and was promoted corporal (November 1916), sergeant (June 1917) and commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant (April 1919). Frederick was gassed at Passchendaele in October 1917. After his return to Australia Frederick returned to Coogans, married Lucy Illingworth in September 1919 and lived for many years in Trevallyn. He died 1960 in Launceston.
