Biographical Details

William Young grew up in the shadow of Holy Trinity as his parents ran the Cornwall Hotel, later the Batman Fawkner. He was trained as a dental mechanic and spent his wartime career attached to the 8th Dental unit at Zaitoun, Cairo and then at various establishments on the Salisbury Plain, England. Early in 1918 he also worked in northern France. After returning to Tasmania in 1919 he established a dental practice in Devonport which is still in operation today.
