Biographical Details
Fred was just over eighteen when he enlisted in the 6th Field Artillery in October 1915. He was a carpenter and had been in the senior cadets in Launceston. He left Melbourne in January 1916 on the Afric and after only six weeks of training in Egypt he arrived on the Western Front. Fred died of wounds sustained in action on 23 October 1917 and is buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Poperinghe, Belgium.
