Biographical Details
Leo was the twelfth of thirteen children born to James and Annie Rouse in Evandale in April 1894. He was apprenticed to WG Genders and was harness maker when he enlisted in the 26th Battalion in August 1915. He saw action in France through 1916 and 1917 being wounded in action in May 1917. In October 1918 he became dangerously ill when a tumour ruptured in his neck. He returned to Australia on the Soudan in May 1919 and settled in Melbourne where he was a book-maker. He died in Castlemaine, Vic.
