Biographical Details
The final name on our memorial, James, enlisted in June 1917. He was married, thirty five and the headmaster at New Town State School. He embarked from Sydney in July 1918 and transferred to the 40th Battalion. In England he ran education courses at Fauvant, Tidworth and in London. James was granted the rank of Warrant Officer shortly before his return to Australia in October 1919.
