Biographical Details

Hugh was one of our older servicemen being 37 years old when he enlisted in December 1916. Interestingly as a barrister-solicitor he remained in ‘the ranks’ although he was promoted sergeant in November 1918. He did not leave for Europe until November 1917 and after further training in England he proceeded to France in April 1918. He accidentally fractured his right fibula in August 1918 and was sent back to Australia where he married and re-joined his family law firm of Ritchie Parker and Alfred Green. He married in 1925 and died in NSW in 1974.
