Biographical Details

Thomas was one of the eleven children of George Collins, MP. He was a thirty eight year old bank clerk when he enlisted in Melbourne in February 1917. On arrival in England he was attached to motor transport before being sent to the Front in October 1918. Immediately after the war Thomas worked in Army motor transport in London before eventually returning to Australia on HMTS Devon in November 1919. He married in 1923 and on his death in March 1945 he was interred at Carr Villa.
