Biographical Details

Russell was 42 and a sports manager living in Rupert Street when he enlisted in the 12th Battalion in August 1915. He left Melbourne on the Orontes and reached Marseilles in April 1916. He was wounded in action at Fleurbaix and saw active service throughout 1917. Ernest returned to Launceston in May 1918 and died in 1959.
