Biographical Details

Sydney was one of fourteen children and four Rouse brothers listed on our memorial. He enlisted at Claremont in the 12th Battalion in October 1916 and embarked for Europe on the Horarata arriving in Liverpool in August 1917. After training in England he proceeded to the Front on 9 April 1918 but was killed in action two weeks later. Sydney is buried at Meteren, France.
