Biographical Details
Charles was killed in action on 22nd June 1917 and lies in the Strand Military Cemetery at Ploegsteert, Belgium. He was just eighteen when he enlisted in May 1916 joining the 40th Battalion. He embarked from Hobart on the Ballarat in August and after training in England he proceeded to France in November. His brother, William, had enlisted at the same time and was killed in action a fortnight before his brother.
