Biographical Details
Carl was 12 when he came to Tasmania from England in 1895. He was active in the Reserves but had been rejected for war service because of defective eye sight. However he tried again in February 1918 and enlisted in the 40th Battalion. He disembarked in England in July and after training he proceeded to France. On his return to Australia Carl worked for Harris Scarfe in Adelaide as an ironmonger. He died there in 1967.
