Biographical Details
Adolphus enlisted in the 40th Battalion in March 1916. He was thirty years old, married and a hotel manager. He left Hobart on the Berrima on 1 July 1916 and was promoted to corporal shortly before arriving at the Front in November. He was subsequently promoted sergeant early in 1917. Adolphus saw active service until the end of the war and returned to Australia in October 1919. In later life Adolphus managed various hotels and was granted the licence for the Grand Hotel, Ulverstone in 1935. He was buried at Carr Villa in 1955.
