Biographical Details
James was a 21 year old postal assistant when he enlisted in the signals at Claremont in May 1917. He left Sydney on the Kyarra and disembarked Suez in October. He stayed in Egypt and Palestine for the rest of the war serving with the 1st Signals. He returned to Australia in June 1919 and was active in local Launceston politics and the commercial motor users association. He was cremated at Carr Villa Cemetery in 1983.
