Biographical Details
One of the four Rosevear cousins attending Holy Trinity, William enlisted at Pontville on 27 August 1914. Prior to this he had been an apprentice machinist for five years with H. Bills and Co. and had lived with his parents in Mann Street, Invermay. As a driver with the 3rd Field Artillery Brigade, William saw active service in Gallipoli and the Western Front including the Somme. Apart from a sprained ankle and a touch of Spanish 'flu, both of which were treated ‘in the field’, William escaped serious injury. He returned to Australia in October 1918 and settled in Sydney where he married in 1919. He died on 27th March,1969 aged seventy four years.
