Biographical Details
Jack was 24 when he enlisted in the 12th Battalion in June 1915. He fell seriously ill at Gallipoli and was invalided to Gibraltar and then England. He was attached to traffic duties on the Western Front and received an appreciation from the Army Corps Commander for ‘the gallant Anzac Corps services rendered to the recent operations’ in October 1917. He returned to Tasmania in March 1919 and died in Launceston in 1961.
