Biographical Details

Hugh enlisted in the 40th Battalion at Claremont in September 1916. He embarked from Melbourne a month later and after training in England he proceeded to France. He was wounded in action, gunshot wounds to the left hip and buttock, in June 1917 and in November he was returned to Australia where he was discharged as medically unfit because of defective sight. He moved to Victoria about 1930 and died there in 1950.
