Biographical Details
Lynwood was born in Hamilton in 1891 and attended Launceston High School. He was a wireless operator when he enlisted in Brisbane in October 1915. He was commissioned the following March and was engaged to Amelia Cardio of Brisbane before embarking on the Port Sydney in May 1917. He saw active service in Ceylon and Mesopotamia and was promoted captain December 1917. In April 1918 he was mentioned in despatches for ‘distinguished and gallant service and devotion to duty’. Lynwood returned to Brisbane in 1919 and married Amelia in 1920. He died in Queensland in 1986.
