Biographical Details

Vernon enlisted in the 3rd Machine gun company in March 1917. He was 27 and a clerk. After training at Seymour he embarked on the Indarra in November and reached England via Egypt, Italy and France in February 1918. Further training meant that he did not see active service until June. Vernon returned to Australia in September 1919 and died in 1972. Vernon was brother of Reginald Rockwell (1914 enlistment).
