Biographical Details

In 1919 Cyril was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for his gallantry under fire in leading his sub-section at Villeret in September/October the previous year. Cyril was born in 1893 and enlisted in the 4th Field Artillery in September 1915 embarking for Melbourne on the Persic three months later. Cyril returned to Launceston at the end of the war, married Jessica Balstrop in 1926 and died in 1986.
