Biographical Details

Nonus was the youngest of nine children, hence the name. He was baptised at Holy Trinity (1892) and attended Scotch College. He enlisted in the 6th Field Artillery and left Melbourne in November 1915. Nonus was dogged by ill-health suffering from among other ailments gastritis, erythema, krythema, appendicitis, scabies, typhoid fever and tonsillitis. At the Front he sprained his ankle and was gassed in action. He returned to the family farm at Vermont just outside Launceston. He died in 1986.
