Biographical Details
Ernest was nineteen and a soft goods salesman when he enlisted at Liverpool NSW in February 1916. After initial training he embarked from Sydney on HMTS Nestor and spent a month in Suez before disembarking at Plymouth on 16 June. Within three months he was on the Western Front. After two weeks leave in September 1917 he re-joined his unit but was killed in action on 25 October. Ernest was buried at Birr Cross Road cemetery in Flanders.
