Biographical Details

Leslie was a carpenter living in Western Australia when he enlisted at Geraldton in February 1915 but he had been born in Launceston where he had finished a five year apprenticeship with J and T Gunns. He saw active service at Gallipoli and in France and was promoted sergeant in March 1917. Apart from suffering from several bouts of myalgia he remained relatively well during the war and returned to Tasmania in March 1919. His two sons, Geoffrey and Douglas were to fight in the World War 2. Leslie died in the Launceston General Hospital in 1946.
