Biographical Details

Allan's army record tells us that he was wounded in action on four occasions and fought at Messines, Ypres and Bray sur Somme. He was 18 years 9 months, when he enlisted in the 40th Battalion in May 1916. He left Hobart on the Berrima in July and arrived at the Front in November. Allan was promoted corporal before returning to Australia in May 1919. He died in Prahan, Victoria in 1971.
