Biographical Details

Henry was 14 when he came to Tasmania from South Africa in 1913. He was a telegraph messenger at Longford when he enlisted in the 12th Battalion in April 1917 and left Melbourne in August proceeding to France in November. He was wounded in action, gunshot to the abdomen, in August 1918 but was able to re-join his unit a month later. Henry returned to Australia in August 1919 and married Mary Creagh in 1932. He worked on the Launceston trams in the 1940s and died in 1973. He is also commemorated on the war memorial in Longford.
