Biographical Details

Vernon was born in Launceston in 1894 but he was educated at Brisbane Grammar School. He was working for the Australian Bank of Commerce in Warwick when he enlisted in the 25th Battalion in May 1915. Vernon saw active service at Gallipoli before being sent to the Western Front in March 1916. He was reported missing, presumed killed, at Pozieres on 25 July 1916. His body was never found.
