Biographical Details

Kenneth enlisted in July 1915 when he was only eighteen. He had attended Sunday School at Holy Trinity and worked as a tanner. As part of the 12th Battalion he left Melbourne on HMTS Hororata and reached Egypt in November 1915. A succession of ailments including diphtheria, tonsillitis, mumps, parotitis, tuberculosis and chronic tuberculosis led to his repatriation in May 1916 and his subsequent discharge. Kenneth married Beatrice Gower in 1930 and died in Launceston in 1973.
