Biographical Details

Charles was educated at Launceston Church Grammar School and North Shore Grammar, Sydney. He became a clerk for the Union Steamship Company and then joined the Merchant Navy as a ship’s purser until 1921. He married ‘Dolly’ Seymour in 1922 and farmed in Canberra and Orange as well as working in Tahiti before becoming manager of a butter factory on Flinders Island. In 1939 he moved to Evandale and was on the flax production committee. He retired to St Helens where he died in 1968.
