Biographical Details

Born in 1883 George was the youngest of twelve children. He described himself as a Presbyterian when he enlisted whereas the majority of our servicemen were Anglican. He left Brisbane on HMTS Warnida in September 1915 and after training in Egypt he arrived at the Western Front in April 1916. He was promoted lance corporal (June 1917), corporal (August 1917) and then sergeant (November 1918). George returned to Australia and was discharged in August 1919.
