Biographical Details

Percy was awarded the Military Medal for bravery in the field in July 1918. He was 21 when he enlisted in the 15th Battalion at Claremont three years before. He was six feet tall and weighed 13 stone which was considerably more than the average serviceman of 5 foot 6 inches and 10 stone. Percy transferred to the Machine Gun Corps when he reached the Western Front. He returned to Australia in 1919 and settled in Victoria dying at Kew in 1970, aged 76 years.
