Biographical Details

Garnet was born in Swansea in 1885 and enlisted in the 40th Battalion in Claremont in March 1916. He was an orchard manager, married and living in Gunn Street, Launceston. He left Hobart on the Berrima in July and disembarked at Devonport, UK seven weeks later. In October he was admitted to hospital and found to have an abnormally rapid heart rate which led to his return to Australia where he was discharged in June 1917. Garnet became involved with the RSL and died in 1941 in Hobart.
