Biographical Details

Henry was the Bandmaster for the 40th Battalion and seems to have been a child prodigy, playing with the Launceston City Band in City Park when he was only eight in 1895. He enlisted in March 1916 and was made sergeant in May before proceeding to England. He was wounded while on active service as a stretcher bearer in July 1918 and was invalided back to Australia in the November. After the war he ran a tailor's shop in Hobart where he died in 1946.
